The desk boasts a green leather top featuring elegant gold tooling, which is bordered by a very nice rounded thumb moulded top. Below, there are 9 graduated working drawers to one side. The cushion-fronted drawers boast the original brass key escutcheons and original brass swan neck handles. All drawers and cupboard doors feature working locks and keys. To the back of the desk, there are a further three working drawers and below, there are two large working fielded panel cupboards, with hinged doors, each having a shelf. These cupboards make ideal storage compartments. All drawers are constructed with solid mahogany drawer linings, which have been hand-dovetailed; they also feature quarter beading internal corner strips (a sign of quality). The pedestals sit on their original rounded corner plinths. The desk is freestanding which means it can be situated in the centre of the room. The pedestals can also be rotated to allow you to either have all drawers on one side, or have one cupboard and a set of drawers each side. The desk can be dismantled into three sections for easy transport. As this is a large desk, it means there is significant storage space available.
Condition Report:
This desk is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the desk but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The green leather is in very good condition and does not have any scratches, rips or stains on it. If you do not like the colour of the leather, we can replace it with a different colour leather, for an additional £300. The drawers are hand dovetailed and feature quarter beading internal corner strips (a sign of quality). All drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. All drawers and cupboards feature working locks and keys. This desk is solid in joint and ready to use.
