Description

This is a beautiful Japanese Satsuma bowl of a good size, dating from the Meiji era, c.1890. The bowl has a lobed rim enclosing a landscape very finely hand-painted painted with pheasants, foliage and blooms in typical Satsuma colour palette with gilding. The decoration to the outside is just as pretty. The bowl has 2 small very faint hairline cracks to the rim on opposite sides of the bowl. These are very small and faint but are just visible in photographs 6 and 7. The bowl is otherwise in great condition. It measures 25cm in diameter.
