A Very Impressive Golden Oak 'jack In The Box' Davenport

A Fine and rare Victorian Davenport oak c.1860. This example is the most desirable model with a piano-lid ‘jack-in-the-box’ pop-up top housing secret stationary compartments. Opening the piano-lid reveals a sliding drawer with an adjustable writing slope inset with a newly fitted black leather inlay with gold and blind tooling, two drawers and an arrangement of pen trays and compartments.
With four drawers to the right side with turned wooden handles, brass locks and escutcheons and four dummy drawers to the left. All standing on flattened bun feet. This very rare piece of fine Victorian furniture is made from oak so very sought after.
