Description

William IV walnut davenport writing table desk. This is a lovely quality davenport, that is full of age, charm and character. Fantastic styling with twist columns and attractive ormolu gallery.

The desk compartment is lined with beautiful birds eye maple veneer. Period brass castors (some wear). 4 active drawers (mahogany lined and slide freely) and an extension wing on the right hand side. 4 dummy drawers on the left hand side.

Concealed pen drawer, released by the bottom centre left internal trinket drawer knob. Later writing surface with some wear and patina. Although we believe this davenport is made of walnut, certain parts could conceivably be mahogany....sometimes it is very difficult to tell. No significant woodworm.

As with all genuine antique furniture, you can expect to see some historic knocks, marks, wear, imperfections, cracks, scratches, repairs and/or alterations. No keys and locks are consequently untested. Signs of restoration as one might expect and there is no letter writing compartment. Some stains and marks inside the drawers (to be expected).

Overall maximum dimensions: 61cm wide, 61cm deep, 83cm high (61cm high knee hole).
