Toleware Fireside Box C.1870.

Description

Fine late 19th pressed metal or toleware fireside companion c.1870. Probably originally intended ashes, it would make a great holder for all the sticks, paper, firelighters etc needed to get your log burner going. Great shape with wonderfully a modelled handle and on four feet with original wooden castors. The colour is actually a very dark purple rather than black, with gold painted detail. Good period brass ash shovel with turned mahogany handle. Excellent condition.

Dimensions: width 13", depth 18", height 20".
