The top of the writing table features a very good quality green and gold tool leather insert. Surrounding the top of the desk is a lovely dragoon rope edge carving. Below and to the front of the desk are five working cock-beaded hand dovetailed mahogany lined drawers (a sign of good quality). The drawers boast their original brass fretwork handles. These five front drawers all feature working locks and a key. To the centre of the desk, in the kneehole, are two fan-inlaid support brackets. To the back of the desk is a set of five sham partner drawers (this is another sign of goof quality). This desk was designed to be freestanding in the centre of a room (such as the drawing room) so that there was detail visible to both sides of the desk. The table sits on four cabriole legs, which terminate on pad feet. This desk features its original polish, which is why it boasts such a stunning colour.

Condition Report:
This item is in excellent condition. The writing table boasts the original brass fretwork drawer handles. The drawers close flush to the frame. There is a working lock and key for the five drawers. The green leather is in excellent condition and is free from damage, rips or ink stains. This desk features its original polish, which is why it boasts such a stunning colour. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the desk but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
