It boasts four graduated oak lined drawers in each pedestal. The right hand pedestal features a large filing drawer in the bottom drawer of the pedestal. The desk boasts very good quality solid oak fielded panels throughout and features the original oak cup handles to the pedestal and top. On each side of the tambour, there is a posting slot for mail (this allowed people to post mail into the desk while the tambour was locked). There is an oak modesty board, with two pullout-writing slides above 4 drawers in each pedestal. The interior has 10 internal drawers with the original brass finger hooks and 2 pigeonholes. There is a very useful storage area to place a laptop computer under the pigeonholes. The desk features a working locking mechanism when the roll-top is closed. The tambour lock and key are in good smooth working order. The internal drawer linings are constructed of sycamore. The oak has an excellent tight grain with a wax finish. The desk dismantles into sections for easy storage or transportation.

The sides of the desk are “D” shaped and have fielded panels allowing the desk to sit freestanding in the centre of a room. The desk is complete with a working lock and key, which operates the tambour. It is rare to see a roll top desk displaying such quality in an excellent condition.

Condition Report:
The desk is in excellent condition; it has recently been cleaned and is in complete working order. There are no missing drawers or compartments to the interior. It features a working lock and key to the tambour. There are no ink or water stains on the top of the desk (which are common on these desks). The tambour is free running and is not stiff to move up or down. Some nominal old use marks to the leading edges and ink marks inside the drawers but nothing significant considering its age. The internal pedestal drawer linings are constructed of sycamore. Free of worm-worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
