This is an attractive and very good quality two-drawer antique Victorian mahogany 4ft leather-writing table, circa 1860 - 1880.

This is an attractive and very good quality two-drawer antique Victorian mahogany 4ft leather-writing table, circa 1860 - 1880.The writing table features a lovely mellow mahogany colour formed with a single piece of mahogany with a moulded lip edge. To the top of the table is a very good quality black and gold tool leather skiver. Below the top, sits two working hand dovetailed drawers, which have been constructed from cedar drawer linings (this is a sign of quality). The drawers features the original turned knobs, working locks and key and brass key escutcheon inserts. The table sits on four pretty turned tapering legs, which terminate in a baluster turning at the bottom. This is a truly classic design from the Victorian period. All in all, this is a very pretty and super quality writing table.

Writing height = 72.3cm or 2ft 4½”

Knee height = 58.7cm or 1ft 11”

Width = 122cm or 4ft

Depth = 61cm or 2ft

Condition Report:

This table and leather are both in excellent condition. Importantly, there is no damage, stains or marks to the leather top. The polish to the mahogany is in excellent condition. There are no splits to the top. The table features the original working drawers, original drawer knobs, and original lock with a working key. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
