This is an attractive and superb quality antique William IV 4½ft rosewood and leather writing library table, circa 1830 - 1840. The top features a very good quality black and gold three-panel gold-tooled leather insert to the top. The leather is flanked by a rosewood surround with a thumb moulded edged over hang. Below the top, there are two elegant cock beaded drawer fronts, which feature brass shaped knobs. Each drawer features the original working lock and a key. The hand-dovetailed drawers are lined in mahogany (a good sign of quality). The front and sides of the table are decorated with stunning rosewood figuration. The table is supported by two decorative shaped carved trestle legs to each end, which are united by a central turned stretcher. The legs terminate in the original brass and brown ceramic mug castors. This table can be freestanding or sit against a wall in a library or office.

Condition Report:

This table and leather are both in excellent condition. Importantly, there is no damage, stains or marks to the leather top. The polish to the rosewood is in excellent condition. Both working drawers closes flush to the frame. The table features the original castors, original working drawers and original lock and two working keys. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.

Knee height = 59cm or 1ft 11¼”

Width = 136cm or 4ft 5½”

Depth = 71.5cm or 2ft 4”
