The tabletop features a very good quality green leather with gold tooling around the perimeter. To the outsides of the top, there is a painted ebony thumb moulded overhang. Below the top, there are two elegant moulded drawer fronts which feature ebony inlay and ebony paint. The sides of the table are decorated with very pretty and good quality painted ebony fielded side panels. Both drawers feature the original turned knobs, working lock and key. The hand-dovetailed drawers are lined in oak (a good sign of quality), are also matched on the opposite side with two dummy drawers to the back of the table. This style of table was designed to be freestanding in a library or office. The table stands on lovely ring turned reeded legs, which have been painted with ebony stain. The legs terminate in the original brass and brown ceramic mug castors.
Condition Report:
This table is in excellent condition. There are nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering its age. Importantly, there is no damage, stains or marks to the leather top. The polish to the figured ash is in excellent condition. Both working drawers closes flush to the frame. The table features the original castors, original working drawers, original drawer knobs, and original lock and two working keys. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
