This nineteenth-century Chinese export framed painting is a delicate hand-painted gouache and watercolour artwork on pith paper. The composition depicts a dark-feathered, long-billed bird standing atop a grassy bank amidst flowering pink flora. Rendered in a multicoloured palette of muted greens, browns, and soft pinks, the traditional avian subject reflects the distinctive style of the period. The artwork is set inside a simple wooden frame with a narrow purple inner border and a cream mount. Fine details include meticulous feather shading on the bird and textured botanical illustration.
