The Antique Furniture Company has dated this piece to the 1880s.
Each pedestal has a further three drawers and all nine drawers are fitted their original Gothic inspired cast brass handles and stamped ‘VR patent’ secure lever locks. The handles are stamped ‘C&T’ to the underside and have diamond registration marks. This desk has been polished to the reverse so can be used as a freestanding piece.

This is a lovely rich warm shade of oak (very desirable in the current market) with a striking quarter-sawn grain and good patina. It is in good condition although there are some veneer losses to the drawer edges and the edge of the skiver has some nibbles, however it has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing and with the polished brass handles is very handsome. It comes with a working key.
