Desk Writing Table Gillows Oak Full Provenance Original Bill and Drawings C1880

Here we have a wonderful Victorian Oak desk made by the famous Gillows of Lancaster firm of cabinet makers c1880. As you can see the desk has wonderful colour and patina. The desk being made by Gillows is of unsurpassed quality. This unique desk was comissioned by a W Foster Esqire on the 27th of February 1880. I have copies of the original bill of sale and the original drawings for this desk from the Gillows archive at Westminster City Council. The desk is stamped Gillow and Co and L 9088 Miller. The name Miller believed to be John Miller is that of the actual cabinet maker that made the desk. The desk has a beautifully moulded edge with reeded drawers and original handles also hand drawn on the bill of sale. The legs are exquisitely turned and the proportion of the desk is as you would expect perfect. It is worth noting that this desk has the exact same handles of the Pugin desk made by Gillow for the Prime Ministers office in the New Palace of Westminster A rare unique fully recorded piece of Gillow furniture in fantastic retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 38 inches wide 29.5 high and 21.5 deep.
