A mid 19th century French mahogany bonheur da jour (lady's writing desk) of exceptional quality.

This piece is superb quality and has a great choice of mahogany curl veneers.

There is a shaped gallery at the top with a shaped shelf, supported by two mahogany lined drawers with turned mahogany knobs with mother-of-pearl insets.

The solid mahogany top is a serpentine shape has superb figure of excellent quality timber.

Underneath the top is a shaped and carved drawer, again of superb quality, the drawer bottom being pine and veneered with mahogany and the sides & back are mahogany.

There are four cabriole legs with carved decoration on the knee leading down to a scroll foot.

This can be a freestanding piece as the back is also veneered in mahogany, making it a much more practical & versatile item.

This item can be used as a writing table or desk or even as a dressing table or side table.

This piece is of both excellent condition and stable construction and can go straight into a home.
