Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1890s.
It has a rectangular moulded top with canted corners inset with a brown tooled leather writing surface. Each side is a mirror image of the other having working drawers and a cupboard. There is a wide central drawer over the knee hole. To the right side there are four graduating drawers whilst to the left there is a cupboard containing a central removable shelf. The sides are panelled and the desk displays beautiful reeded decoration. It stands on small shaped feet and splits into three sections for ease of removal. A true quality piece with magnificent looks! The oak is a warm medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
