Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The rectangular moulded top has an early green tooled leather writing insert below which can be found a central drawer over knee hole. Each pedestal has four graduating, mahogany lined drawers with strikingly figured oak fronts and brass handles. The desk stands on a plain plinth with castors and splits into three sections aiding transportation. The back is finished so it may be placed in the centre of a room if so desired. This beautiful antique oak desk does have a small old repair (professionally restored) to the top edge but this is hardly noticeable and in no way detracts from the quality look and feel of the piece. The oak has aged to a wonderful golden shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
