Desk Table Library Table Walnut Early Victorian by Miles and Edwards 1822-1844

Here we have a fine quality Desk or library table made by the illustrious cabinet makers Miles and Edwards of 134 Oxford street London. The desk can was made between 1822 - 1844 as the firm of Miles and Edwards was bought by Charles Hindley and sons in 1844. Casting my expert eye over this piece my suggestion is that it was made around 1840. As you can see the table has super colour and patina. There is a wonderful tooled and gilded inset leather surface with a croosbanded figured Walnut edge. There are to concealed drawers which are oak lined and bear the stamp of Miles and Edwards 134 Oxford Street London. The undertier is breathtaking with barley twist figured Walnut supports leading to decorative feet and stretcher again in figured walnut. The desk is finshed on original casters. A fine and beautiful piece in its day and still now in lovely retail condition and a fantastic size. The dimensions are approx 42 inches wide 30 deep and 30 high.
