Cloverleaf Home Interiors has dated this piece to the 1920s.
Dear Phil,
I have now received some information on your desk from our company historian (see below).
Best regards.
Kathryn
PA to Robert Morris
The design is 1929. The three figure number means it is a stand alone and not from a suite. It is in the product line book designed by BJ Cantles.
Morris furniture was not available to the general public till well after the war. The woods once used were Cherry, Walnut burr or Oak. The top was designed to take the heat of a cigarette or boiling water. The original piece could be cleaned with a damp cloth and came out perfect.

One of the ways to date the desk is the shapes of the legs.
Here we have a super quality Art Deco Walnut desk made by Morris of Glasgow. The desk is excellent quality being solid Walnut throughout with Mahogany drawer linings and bases. The top is faux tortoiseshell and a wonderful deep rich colour. The edge has a solid brass moulding which is beautifully worked around the inverted break front. The drawers have dovetail joints and all run smoothly. The drawers fronts are solid Walnut with the grain running from top to bottom. The sides also solid Walnut have wonderful configured grain also running from top to bottom. The original solid brass knobs are in place and have lovely architectural form. The desk sits on wonderful angular feet and with a fantastic inverted front this desk has all the beautiful art Deco features you would want. A rare super quality desk in strong retail condition ready for your home.
