This eighteenth-century Georgian Derby porcelain sparrow beak jug is made of white porcelain finished with a glossy glaze. The piece is decorated with hand-painted pink rose sprigs scattered across the body, complemented by a gilded rim and gold leaf detailing on the pointed sparrow beak spout and the curved loop handle. It measures 12.7 cm high, 11.43 cm wide, and 14.6 cm deep. Today, this jug serves as a decorative display piece on a sideboard top in an English country house setting. Collectors can also use it for serving cream during afternoon tea or place it within a cabinet alongside other vintage tableware.

A sparrow beak jug is a small porcelain or earthenware cream pitcher characterised by a tiny, pointed pouring spout resembling a birds beak, which was widely produced during the 18th century.

Georgian porcelain jugs were typically constructed from soft-paste or hard-paste porcelain, decorated with hand-painted enamel botanical motifs, and finished with gilt borders.

Authentic 18th-century Derby porcelain often features translucency under light, soft-paste body characteristics, precise hand-painted floral decoration, and specific manufacturer marks stamped or painted on the base.

An antique porcelain jug can be styled on a sideboard top, displayed inside a curio cabinet, or utilised as a decorative vessel for small floral stems.

Clean antique porcelain gently using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, or dishwashers that could strip the gilding or enamel glaze.
