Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 19th-century cabinet in the Georgian style is fashioned from warm brown mahogany with contrasting boxwood stringing and inlay. The structural form comprises twin cupboard doors each centred with a decorative oval panel, enclosed by corner spandrels and supported on a solid plinth base. A pink tassel hangs from the central closure between the doors, which are framed by horizontal mouldings beneath the flat top surface. The timber displays a rich grain and deep polished finish typical of English country house furnishings. Practical as a general storage unit, this compact freestanding cupboard integrates readily into a living room, hallway, or dining space to house tableware, books, or household items while offering a traditional aesthetic.

FAQs

Cabinets from this era feature classical symmetry, high-grade mahogany timber, and decorative techniques such as oval flame mahogany veneers and boxwood inlay.

Craftsmen typically utilised solid mahogany or oak for the internal frame, finishing exterior surfaces with decorative mahogany veneers, satinwood or boxwood stringing, and brass hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, period lock mechanisms, subtle irregular shrinkage in solid wood panels, and age-appropriate wear inside drawers or shelves.

Position the piece as a focal point in a hallway, dining area, or living space, pairing its deep wood tones with neutral wall colours and contemporary minimalist accessories.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly along the wood grain once or twice a year, keeping the cabinet away from direct heat sources.
