This nineteenth-century Queen Anne style chest of drawers is constructed from walnut and burr walnut with a warm brown colour, decorative crossbanding, and a shaped bottom drawer with a fan-shaped sunburst inlay. The rectangular top sits above two small upper drawers and two longer lower drawers, fitted with traditional brass drop handles and matching keyhole escutcheons, all raised on four turned bun feet. Moulded drawer edges and visible grain patterns add character across the timber surfaces. Measuring 88 cm high, 94 cm wide, and 48 cm deep, this practical storage piece suits a bedroom, hallway, or living room for holding folded clothing, linens, or household items while offering a flat surface for display.

Queen Anne style furniture from the 19th-century revival period is recognised by graceful proportions, figured wood veneers such as walnut, brass teardrop or batwing handles, and classical details like sunburst or feather-edge inlays.

Chests from this era were typically constructed using solid walnut or pine frames lined with burr walnut or walnut root veneers, complemented by cast or stamped brass hardware and hand-cut dovetail drawer joints.

Authentic 19th-century pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joinery, secondary timber such as pine or oak inside the drawers, age-appropriate wear to the drawer runners, and natural oxidisation on the brass backplates.

Place a warm walnut chest against neutral or dark moody painted walls, pairing it with contemporary artwork, modern table lamps, or minimal ceramic vessels to balance heritage craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish twice yearly following the wood grain, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent drying or veneer movement.
