Omega 131.019 – Original Box & Papers – Calibre 601 – 34mm – 1967

1940 - 1960
Description

Some vintage Omegas stand out because of their condition, whilst others stand out because of their rarity. This Omega reference 131.019 manages to offer both. Dating from 1967 according to its original paperwork, whilst its serial number suggests production in 1965, this elegant manual-wind dress watch features a highly unusual silver dial with applied silver numeral hour markers, offering a refreshing alternative to the more commonly encountered baton-marker configurations.

Presented with its original Omega box and original papers, this is a wonderfully preserved example of a classic 1960s Omega.

Our View

What immediately sets this Omega apart is the dial. The applied silver numeral markers give the watch a unique personality rarely seen on comparable 1960s Omega references. It retains the elegance of a classic dress watch whilst offering something genuinely different for collectors.

The condition is equally impressive. Finding an almost 60-year-old Omega with such a clean dial, excellent case presentation and original paperwork is becoming increasingly difficult. Combined with the original box and the reliable Calibre 601 movement, this is exactly the sort of vintage Omega collectors gravitate towards.

An exceptionally honest and beautifully preserved example of a seldom-seen Omega reference.

This 1960s Mid-Century Modern gentleman's wristwatch is a stainless steel manual-wind dress watch with a silver dial, black Arabic numerals, and a tan brown leather strap. The piece features a round silver-tone metal case, a winding crown on the right side, and a clear glass crystal protecting the face, with black minute ticks around the outer edge. The watch measures 3.4 cm high and 3.4 cm wide. Suitable for daily wear or formal occasions, this timepiece brings classic horological style to a modern wardrobe or collection. It functions as a personal accessory worn on the wrist, fitting comfortably into professional settings, evening events, or casual daytime outings.

Introduced in the 1960s, the Omega Calibre 601 is a manual-wind mechanical movement recognised for its reliability and slender profile. It was widely used across Omega dress watch references during this era, representing classic mid-century Swiss watchmaking.

Mid-century Swiss wristwatches typically feature stainless steel or gold-plated cases, acrylic crystals, and metallic dials with applied or printed markers. Straps are generally crafted from natural leathers such as calfskin.

Authentic pieces feature reference numbers stamped inside the case back and serial numbers engraved on the movement mechanism. Key details include crisp dial printing, branded crowns, and matching movement calibre markings.

A vintage wristwatch can be integrated into a room by placing it inside a glass-topped valet tray, a leather watch box, or a dedicated collectors display case on a dressing table or desk.

Vintage mechanical watches should be kept away from moisture, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. Regular servicing by a qualified horologist every three to five years ensures the movement remains lubricated and functional.
