An very attractive Art Nouveau brass coal scuttle / coal box, estimated to date from circa 1895–1910, complete with a removable domed lid and metal inner liner.

The distinctive waisted body features raised stylised floral decoration with a hammered central detail, riveted edging and a spreading square base. The side handles and lid handle have decorative heart-shaped mounts, complementing its Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts character.
