Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Below, a shaped apron meets outswept bracket feet. A green tassel hangs from the right-hand cabinet door. It offers generous storage behind the cabinet doors and within the drawers for tableware, linen or household items.

FAQs

A bow-front mahogany sideboard is a dining room storage cabinet originating in late eighteenth-century Britain, characterized by its outward-curving convex front, multiple storage compartments, and rich wood grain.

Traditional construction typically utilized solid wood frames, often pine or oak drawer linings, overlaid with cuts of flame mahogany or satinwood veneers, accented with solid brass drop handles and cast escutcheons.

Authentic period pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, original oak or pine drawer bottoms showing shrinkage gaps, natural oxidisation on the underside, and authentic hand-hammered or cast brass hardware.

A bow-front sideboard functions as a focal point in a dining room, hallway, or living space, balanced by contemporary artwork mounted above and understated ceramic or glass decorative objects on the top surface.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a light layer of beeswax paste once or twice a year, keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and central heating sources.
