Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

MaterialOak, Iron
ColourDark Brown
MotifsDiamond motif panel, Wavy vertical slats, Carved foliate stiles, Drop ring handles

This 18th century English country wall cabinet is constructed from dark brown oak with original iron drop handles. The upper section comprises a central cupboard door bearing a raised diamond motif panel, flanked by symmetrical wavy vertical slats and outer stiles decorated with carved foliate relief patterns. Below this sits a twin-door cupboard enclosed by further vertical wavy slats and secured with small iron hardware. The timber exhibits a warm antique patina with visible grain and natural colour variations across the panels. Measuring 80 cm high, 69 cm wide, 26 cm deep at the top, and 20 cm deep at the bottom, this piece serves well as a drinks cabinet or display storage unit in a dining room, hallway, or kitchen. Its compact profile suits a narrow wall space where traditional character is desired.

FAQs

These cabinets typically feature solid oak construction, hand-carved decorative motifs such as diamonds or foliate scrolls, and pierced or slatted panels designed for ventilation.

Crafted primarily from native oak timber, these pieces utilise mortise and tenon joinery secured with wooden pegs, hand-forged iron hinges, and hand-planed backboards.

Authentic examples exhibit hand-saw marks, irregular wooden peg placement, historic iron hardware with natural oxidisation, and deep timber patina in unpolished areas.

Mount the cabinet in a kitchen or dining space as a characterful display unit, juxtaposing dark timber against contemporary plaster or light neutral walls.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners and high humidity.
