Antique Waltham Lancs & Yorks railway pocket watch.

The watch has a grade 820 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. This is a good quality movement with an Ohlson 1906 patent regulator and Breguet hairspring. The movement is fully signed and it carries the serial number 21,471,430 which dates it back to 1917.

The watch measures 58mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is signed with the case maker’s name inside the screw-on case back, Philadelphia Watch Case Company. It is also stamped Silverode, an alloy often used in watch cases around this time and it came under various names such as Silveroid and Silverine. The case is in lovely condition.

The back of the watch is stamped L & Y for Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway.

The glass lens is in lovely condition.

The signed dial has its original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute track. The dial looks good to the naked eye… upon close examination, there are a couple of very faint hairlines.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
