Description

Fine early 19th century Tibetan ceremonial monks ewer and yak butter tea pot,c1820. The monks ewer is handcrafted and beautifully decorated across its body with the spout and handle in the form of a dragon/mythical creature. Most likely constructed from copper alloy it is in very good antique condition and the metal has taken on great colour following many years of use. The tea pot/ritual ewer is in traditional form and handcrafted from copper/brass. It has lovely intricate decoration featuring scrolling motifs , raised features and a great dragon handle and spout. The ritual of serving po cha (butter tea) is important in Buddhist ceremonies and these pieces are highly prized. Again it is in lovely antique condition commensurate with age and use.
