Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating from eighteenth-century French lit de repos designs, day beds evolved into versatile seating and lounging pieces widely popular in early twentieth-century boudoirs and living spaces.

These day beds were typically crafted with solid hardwood frames, such as mahogany or walnut, incorporating traditional coil spring webbing and upholstered in woven fabrics like damask, brocatelle, or velvet.

Authentic period pieces display traditional joinery along the wooden frame, natural oxidisation on exposed timber surfaces, original spring construction, and hand-carved decorative elements along the crest rails.

A period day bed functions well as a statement piece in a dressing room, study, or large hallway, where its detailed timber structure can be contrasted against neutral wall finishes.

Clean upholstery regularly using a soft brush vacuum attachment on low power, keep the timber frame away from direct heat sources, and apply clear beeswax to exposed wood to maintain the finish.
