Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chest on chest, frequently referred to as a tallboy, is a vertical storage unit consisting of two separate chest sections stacked one atop the other. First popularised in late 17th and 18th-century Britain, this form maximized storage capacity while saving floor space.

Pieces from this era typically feature native English or imported American walnut veneers over pine or oak carcasses. Construction methods include hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, deal drawer linings, and decorative feather-banding or crossbanding along the edges.

Authentic period examples display irregular hand-cut dovetails, uneven drawer linings, and natural wood shrinkage marks. Additional indicators include period-appropriate cast brass drop handles, original oak or pine back panels, and evidence of historic wear around the feet and drawer runners.

An antique tallboy serves as a grounding focal point in modern bedrooms, dressing rooms, or hallways. Pairing warm, figured walnut timber with neutral wall paint, contemporary lighting, and minimalist textiles balances historic character with modern aesthetics.

Preserve antique walnut by maintaining stable humidity and keeping the piece away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly along the grain twice yearly, avoiding modern aerosol sprays or silicone-based cleaners.
