Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the early 19th century in Britain, Regency chests of drawers feature straight lines, balanced proportions, and grain-matched flame mahogany veneers. They frequently incorporate brass handles, inlaid escutcheons, and shaped aprons with bracket feet.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid mahogany and cut mahogany veneers applied over pine or oak framing. Secondary timbers such as pine or deal formed the drawer linings, complemented by cast brass handles and bone or ivory keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer sides, hand-planed secondary timbers, and natural shrinkage lines along the wood grain. Original brass hardware and period-correct lock mechanisms also indicate authenticity.

Place the chest in a hallway or living space as a focal storage piece. Balance the dark timber tones by mounting contemporary artwork above and styling the top surface with ceramic vessels or lamps.

Position the furniture away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight to reduce timber movement and veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply clear beeswax twice annually to protect the original finish.
