This nineteenth-century Chinoiserie fire screen is formed of a dark lacquered wooden faux bamboo frame and a central velvet upholstery panel. The textile shows a dark green and black painted marshland scene with two pink flamingos, waterlilies, and tropical foliage, signed in the bottom right-hand corner. Turned wooden finials top the tiered spindle gallery, and the structure stands on trestle feet with an integrated lower rail. The object measures 99 cm high, 51 cm wide, and 31 cm deep. Placed in front of a fireplace hearth in a living room, study, or sunlit conservatory, it serves as a decorative room screen when the fire is unlit.
