This large George III sideboard dates from the 18th century and is made of figured mahogany in a warm brown colour with a rich patina. The piece stands on six bobbin-turned tapering legs with ball feet and features a raised gallery top with reeded moulded panels and sliding storage compartments, positioned above five drawers decorated with reeded moulding and fitted with oval brass ring handles. Measuring 110.5 cm high, 229 cm wide, and 80 cm deep, the sideboard provides substantial surface and storage capacity for a formal dining room or a spacious hallway. The classic proportions and traditional mahogany construction suit period interiors and traditional homes, offering both display space and practical storage behind the cupboard doors and within the drawers.

George III sideboards date from the late 18th to early 19th century, characterised by classical proportions, high-quality mahogany veneers, turned or tapered legs, and integrated drawers and cupboards designed for dining room service.

These pieces typically feature solid mahogany or oak carcasses veneered with figured or flame mahogany. Construction includes hand-cut dovetail joints, brass drop handles, and turned or reeded support legs.

Authentic George III sideboards display signs of hand-planing on drawer linings, hand-cut dovetails, natural wood movement around veneers, and original brass hardware showing age-appropriate oxidisation.

A Georgian sideboard functions as a focal piece in a formal dining room or hallway, complemented by neutral wall paint, modern artwork mounted above, or minimal decorative ceramics placed on the surface.

Maintain the timber finish by dusting regularly with a dry microfiber cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish annually. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent timber movement and veneer damage.
