Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency furniture, dating from roughly 1811 to 1830, is defined by classical proportions, clean geometric lines, and neoclassical inspiration. Common design features include mahogany or rosewood veneers, brass mountings, bow-front or serpertine fronts, and slender tapered or turned legs.

Primary cabinet woods during the Regency era were mahogany and flame mahogany veneers, often imported from the West Indies. Secondary woods used for interior drawer construction typically included pine, oak, or deal, complemented by brass handles and backplates.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawer construction, original oak or pine drawer linings, and natural shrinkage or unevenness in the wood grain over time. Original brass handles often show cast backplates with aged patination and authentic steel or brass locks.

A Regency dressing table functions well as a compact desk in a home office, a vanity table in a bedroom, or an entry console in a hallway. Pairing the warm mahogany wood with contemporary wall colours, modern lighting, or minimalist artwork creates an eclectic interior scheme.

Dust mahogany furniture regularly using a dry, lint-free microfibre cloth. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing along the direction of the grain, and keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading.
