FAQs

Bed frames from the 1920s often combine influences from the Arts and Crafts movement with simplified traditional styling. They typically feature solid oak construction, clean panelled headboards and footboards, and subtle shallow carved motifs.

These pieces are predominantly constructed from solid European oak, using mortise and tenon joints for structural framework. Side rails are attached to the headboard and footboard using cast iron or timber drop-in hooks and brackets.

Authentic period frames feature genuine hand-carved details, traditional joint construction, natural wood grain variation, and historical side-rail ironwork fittings rather than modern bolt mechanisms.

Pair the natural warm timber tones with neutral linen bedding, muted wall shades, and soft woven textiles to create a balanced contrast between antique woodwork and modern minimalism.

Clean timber surfaces periodically with a soft cloth and apply high-grade beeswax polish annually to nourish the wood and preserve the original surface patina. Keep the frame away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage.
