Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the 19th century, alabaster was widely carved across Europe to produce classical and Romantic portrait busts, favoured for its translucency and soft carving qualities relative to marble.

Carvers utilised alabaster, a naturally occurring mineral stone, shaped with steel chisels and rasps to create intricate drapery, hair textures, and smooth skin surfaces on separate turned bases.

Authentic period pieces feature natural material translucency, subtle hand-chiselled tool marks in secondary areas, age-appropriate patination, and minor surface wear consistent with soft stone.

Place the sculpture as a focal point on a mantelpiece, console table, or dark timber sideboard to contrast classical figurative design against contemporary interior backdrop lines.

Dust the surface gently with a soft dry cloth or soft-bristled brush, and avoid water or liquid cleaning agents, as alabaster is a water-soluble mineral that absorbs liquid easily.
