Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Parian ware is a type of unglazed, matte white porcelain developed around 1842 by Staffordshire potters, primarily Mintons and Copeland. Named after Paros, the Aegean island famous for fine white marble, it was designed to mimic carved marble at a fraction of the production cost.

Parian ware is composed of a high proportion of feldspar, which fuses during firing to create a vitrified, semi-translucent body. Pieces were manufactured using liquid slip cast into multi-piece plaster moulds, allowing high levels of detail and smooth, marble-like surfaces.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display crisp moulding details, a heavy porcelain weight, and a subtle marble-like translucency. Maker marks, sculptor signatures, or stamped inscriptions for institutions such as the Art Union of London are frequently impressed into the base or socle rim.

A Parian bust functions as a sculptural focal point on a fireplace mantelpiece, bookshelf, or console table. Its neutral colour palette allows it to integrate into minimalist spaces as well as classic dark academia or traditional country interiors.

Because unglazed porcelain is porous, dust should be removed regularly with a soft, dry brush. For ingrained grime, gentle washing using warm water and a mild detergent with a soft sponge is recommended; avoid harsh chemical cleansers or abrasive materials.
