Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sporting prints became highly popular in 19th-century Britain, capturing traditional rural pastimes such as hunting, angling, and coursing. Artists documented these events for upper-class patrons, producing detailed lithographs and engravings that celebrated British countryside culture.

Antique lithographs were produced using limestone blocks drawn upon with grease-based crayons, then inked and pressed onto heavy rag paper. Many examples were subsequently finished by hand using watercolour washes to add colour to the printed image.

Authentic period lithographs display fine detail without modern halftone dot patterns visible under magnification. They frequently feature plate impressions, period paper watermarks, age-related foxing, and original publication lines detailing the artist and publisher.

These prints integrate well into gallery walls alongside contemporary line drawings or traditional oil paintings. Placing them against dark, saturated wall tones or alongside natural timber furniture enhances their historical character within contemporary or classic settings.

Display prints away from direct sunlight to prevent fading of watercoloured pigments. Frame prints using acid-free mounting boards and UV-filtering glass to protect the paper from foxing, discolouration, and humidity damage.
