1930s Cortebert Pocket Watch And Chain

1930s Cortebert pocket watch and chain.
 
Cortebert was founded in Cortebert, Switzerland in 1790 by Abraham-Louis Juillard although he did not officially register the name until 1855. Cortebert traded very successfully earning a reputation for manufacturing both high quality watches and movements. They also supplied railroad watches, where accuracy and reliability are paramount, for Turkey and Italy.
 
The company ceased trading in the 1970s, as did so many other mechanical watch manufacturers with the advent of the quartz era.
 
The watch has a good quality signed 15 jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely.
 
The watch measures 48mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel. The front and sides are in good condition. The case back has an indentation.
 
The glass lens is in good condition, just a couple of small chips to the bevelled edge but they are small
