This Georgian chest of drawers dates from the eighteenth century and takes the form of an antique George III mahogany bow fronted piece. The dark brown timber finish displays natural grain variations over four long graduated drawers, fitted with circular brass ring handles and keyhole escutcheons, set above short splayed bracket feet and a shaped apron. The compact proportions measure 90 cm high by 76 cm wide and 53 cm deep. Traditional bedroom furniture of this scale serves well for clothes storage in a domestic setting, or as a decorative storage surface in a hallway or living room. The classic English country house style blends seamlessly into period interiors as well as contemporary homes needing timeless wooden furniture.

Originating during the reign of King George III (17601820), a bow front chest of drawers features a convex, gently curved front surface designed to add elegance and soft lines to traditional cabinet making.

Georgian chests were typically constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over oak or pine carcass wood, often featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, oak drawer linings, and cast brass handles.

Authentic pieces feature hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut irregular dovetails, original pine or oak drawer bottoms with grain running front-to-back or side-to-side, and natural age-related shrinkage marks around construction joints.

Balance the rich mahogany timber by pairing it with contemporary artwork above, minimalist lighting, and neutral wall tones to allow the classic woodwork to serve as a grounding focal point.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding aerosol sprays, direct sunlight, and placement near heat sources to prevent timber warping.
