A rare set of three 18th century, or earlier, etchings from the series of paintings depicting the Triumphs of Alexander the Great by Charles Le Brun (1619-1690) in their original frames with hand written annotations to the reverse. To the top is an early inventory note stating ''Effets de Mr G.me Bonnemaison (aîné) Le 1817'' which could be a reference to Fereol Bonnemaison (1766-1827) a French portrait painter, lithographer, restorer, and art dealer. These three examples show The Battle with King Porus of India, The Battle of Granicus and The Battle of Arbella. As you would expect from prints this old they are stained, have some insect damage and the frames have old long dead worm holes. Good honest early examples of a series of prints popular throughout the Enlightenment of the 18th century and Neoclassicism of the 19th century.
