Dickinsons Antiques has dated this piece to the 17th Century.
The hinged top encloses two deep and two short oak-lined drawers and a writing surface, above eight short oak-lined drawers flanking the kneehole. The recess features one frieze drawer over a segmentally radiating, veneered, circular-tablet-inlaid door, enclosing one shelf, on 18th-century shaped bracket feet (with stacked blocking), with quarter-veneered sides; 106 cm wide x 65.5 cm deep x 85 cm high (42 in wide x 25 1/2 in deep x 33 in high).
THis desk is featured in "English Furniture" by John C. Rogers, the revised and enlarged edition by Margaret Jourdain, when it was with "Hotspur," the well-respected London antique dealers.
