FAQs

Pink lustreware is a style of decorated earthenware developed in the early 19th century, characterised by metallic pink or purple iridescent glazes achieved through the application of thin gold oxide washes.

These pieces were typically moulded from earthenware or pearlware clay, covered in a lead-based glaze, and detailed with metallic solutions that produced a lustre sheen upon firing.

Authentic pieces feature fine glaze crazing, hand-applied metallic highlights showing subtle brush variations, and a distinct weight consistent with historical earthenware production.

Place the vessel on a sideboard, dresser, or open kitchen shelf, either displayed as a standalone decorative accent or utilised as a vase for dried florals.

Clean gently using warm water and mild liquid soap with a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive sponges, harsh chemical cleaners, or dishwashers that could strip the metallic lustre finish.
