In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The top of the desk has a beautiful inset maroon writing surface with a gilt tooled border.
It is a good quality piece and the desk is nicely finished on all sides and would suit being in the centre of a room as well as against a wall.
The desk is in very good condition for its age and has been well looked after, although it doesn't have any keys. The oak has a lovely warm colour and the drawers open smoothly. The inside of the drawers are generally clean and tidy with just some minor old stains. There are some normal signs of age and use, a few minor knocks, light surface marks and an old repaired shrinkage split in one back panel but nothing detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
