A pair cased pocket watch consists of an inner watch movement housed in its own case, which is then placed inside a separate, outer protective case. Popular from the late 17th century through the early 19th century, this design protected delicate verge escapement mechanisms from dirt, moisture, and wear.

These timepieces were predominantly constructed using sterling silver or gold for the cases, alongside steel hands, glass watch crystals, and hand-engraved brass components within the movement.
