Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, dating from 1830 to 1837, marks the transition between classical Regency styling and early Victorian design. It is recognised for its solid proportions, heavy turned legs, and prominent use of high-quality timbers such as mahogany and rosewood.

Tables from this period typically feature solid mahogany framework with hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, turned columnar supports, and hand-fitted veneer accents. Solid timber drawer linings and turned wooden knobs are standard hallmarks of authentic period craft.

Authentic William IV pieces feature distinctive architectural motifs such as bold turned columns, plinth bases, drop finials, and understated galleries. Examination of hand-sawn timber beneath surfaces and original drawer construction helps verify genuine period origin.

A mahogany side or dressing table functions well in contemporary spaces as a hallway console, home office writing desk, or bedroom dressing table. Combining rich timber with neutral wall tones, contemporary lamps, and modern artwork creates a balanced contrast.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage.
