Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large carpet dates from 1920 in a traditional Persian style, constructed from wool and cotton. The piece displays a deep red field decorated with cream and sage green floral scroll motifs, enclosed within a matching multi-tiered border and finished with fringed edges. The surface shows light, even wear throughout consistent with age, alongside soft variations in the red field and lighter tones in the decorative scrollwork. Practical dimensions are 373 cm wide by 277 cm deep. Suitable for principal reception rooms, studies or expansive living areas, the rug anchors large furniture groupings while adding warmth and traditional pattern to a floor. It coordinates well with classic interior schemes, bringing texture and a grounded palette to the space.

FAQs

Traditional red Persian style carpets are recognised for their intricate field patterns, ornate borders, and rich natural-dyed colour palettes dominated by crimson, madder red, cream, and sage tones.

These carpets are predominantly woven using spun sheep wool for the pile, anchored onto a resilient foundation of cotton or wool warp and weft threads.

Authentic hand-woven carpets feature individual knot patterns visible on the underside, slight natural variations in design symmetry, and soft selvedge edges rather than machine-bound synthetic stitching.

A large red traditional carpet creates an anchoring focal point in neutral rooms, contrasting effectively with clean-lined furniture, dark timber accents, or polished brass decorative elements.

Regular light vacuuming without a rotating beater bar, prompt spot-cleaning of liquid spills with cold water, and periodic professional cleaning ensure the long-term preservation of wool fibres.
