Marlborough Antiques & Interiors has dated this Antique Oak Dresser Base to the 19th Century.
The shaped scalloped apron and gently curving front legs give it a graceful, considered presence. The two drawers are decorated with delicate string inlay in contrasting boxwood and ebony, and are traditionally constructed with dovetail joints. They retain their brass drop handles, which sit comfortably with the warm tone and patina of the oak.The top shows attractive historic wear and colour variation, adding depth and authenticity without detracting from its practicality. Likely originally the base of a larger dresser, it now works beautifully as a standalone piece, ideal as a console table, serving piece, or hall table thanks to its versatile proportions. Ideal as a hallway console, behind a sofa, or as a serving table.
Good antique condition overall, with age-appropriate wear to the top and surfaces. Structurally sound, with drawers running well. Minor marks and variations consistent with age add to its character.
