A Provincial George III Linen Press With Screw Mechanism

£680    $914    €797
A provincial George III oak and pine linen press with original blue lining paper to the drawer. As a functional piece this was used, before the days of electric irons, to flatten linen. These sometimes were combined with full size chest of drawers to maximise space. The fact this was a dedicated and lockable piece, suggest possibly a piece from a larger house, possibly an estate made ''below stairs'' piece.

With honest restoration to some struts and two feet tipped (the pine would be affected more easily by washing the flagstone floors it undoubtedly sat on). Signs of historic worm, treated, commensurate with age and use.
