Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This eighteenth-century Welsh cwpwrdd tridarn is an oak court cupboard finished in a dark brown wax with brass knobs and escutcheons. The tripartite form comprises an open top canopy section with turned balusters at the front and vertical slats to the sides, resting above an ogee moulded cornice and a middle tier containing three small central drawers flanked by two cupboards with turned droppers below the upper columns. The lower section consists of a deeper two-door cupboard base featuring raised and fielded panels, supported by block feet. The surfaces display visible wood grain and patination consistent with a restored and cleaned antique timber finish. Measuring 193 cm high, 132 cm wide, and 53.5 cm deep, this piece serves as a traditional storage and display cabinet in a dining room, kitchen, or living area. It provides upper shelving for display items alongside enclosed cupboard space and drawers for organizing tableware or household items in a rustic farmhouse interior.

A cwpwrdd tridarn is a traditional three-tier Welsh press cupboard originating predominantly from North Wales in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, featuring an open top canopy above a middle drawer and cupboard section and a larger enclosed base.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid local timber, primarily dark English or Welsh oak, joined using traditional pegged mortise and tenon joinery with hand-carved panels and brass hardware.

Authentic examples exhibit hand-hewn oak backboards, hand-cut dovetail joints on internal drawers, natural shrinkage marks around panel joints, and historical wear consistent with eighteenth-century craftsmanship.

Incorporate a dark oak cupboard into an entry hall, dining room, or living space as a focal anchor, contrasting its rich patina against neutral limewashed walls and minimal contemporary decorative accents.

Keep the timber clean by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to maintain the natural oxidisation and protective patina, avoiding direct heat sources and high humidity.
