Description

Ernest Dade 1868-1934.Staithes School genre ,marine and landscape painter in oil and watercolour but was particularly fond as watercolour as a medium exhibiting from 1886.He lived in London until 1888 and then returned to Yorkshire where he was born.He specialised in subjects on the Yorkshire coast,particularly around around Scarborough where he lived.He moved to London in 1917 and eventually established a studio in St John’s Wood which he passed on to Laura and Harold Knight.Dade was a founder member of the New English Art Club. ‘Tow into Scarborough’ signed watercolour,dated 1891,image size 58x46 cms,framed size 83x70 cms.Provenance: with Phillips and Sons ,Cookham,Berks.
